Privacy policy

ZoneHunt is operated by Ben Gillitt (“ZoneHunt”, “we”, “us”). Ben Gillitt is the controller of personal data handled through the app. Contact us at bengillitt@proton.me.

This policy applies to the ZoneHunt mobile app, its multiplayer services, subscription access, and this support site.

ZoneHunt is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, use ZoneHunt only with permission and supervision from a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

• Account data: a ZoneHunt user ID, authentication session details, and an email address if you secure an account.
• Gameplay data: display names, teams and roles, game settings, match actions, scores, results and match history.
• Location and telemetry: precise foreground and background location, timestamps, GPS accuracy and device battery level during participating matches.
• Purchase data: subscription product, entitlement, renewal, expiry and store information. We do not receive complete payment-card details.
• Technical data processed by our providers to deliver authentication, maps, app distribution, billing, diagnostics and network requests.

We use data to authenticate you, create and join matches, show permitted player positions and signals, validate proximity-based actions, maintain game history, enforce free and Pro access, process and restore purchases, prevent abuse, support users, and keep the service reliable.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use personal data for behavioural advertising or cross-app tracking.

Location is used only for gameplay you choose to join. Background location keeps active match signals working while ZoneHunt is not on screen. You can deny or revoke access in device settings, but location-based modes may not work. ZoneHunt stops its background task when an active match is left or ended.

Other participants receive only the location or game signal that the selected mode and rules permit. Hosts do not gain unrestricted access to a permanent location history.

Where UK or European data-protection law applies, we rely on performance of our contract to provide the game and paid features, consent for device permissions such as location, legitimate interests in safety, security and service improvement, and legal obligations for transaction and compliance records. You can withdraw device-permission consent at any time.

These providers process only the information needed for their role and may process data in other countries using safeguards available under applicable law. Their own policies also apply to their independent processing.

• Supabase provides authentication, databases and server functions.
• Superwall presents paywalls and manages subscription entitlements and purchase restoration.
• Apple and Google distribute the app, process store billing and provide platform services.
• Google Maps or platform map services provide map display.

Live player location is stored with the active match record and is removed when that record is deleted or when the associated account is deleted. Match events and recaps may remain in game history until the match or participating account is deleted. Subscription and transaction records may be retained for the period required for accounting, fraud prevention, disputes and legal compliance.

You can change location permissions in device settings, leave a match, sign out, and delete your ZoneHunt account and associated data in the Account screen.

Depending on where you live, you may also request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing. Contact us to exercise these rights. You may complain to your local data-protection authority; in the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

We use authenticated sessions, encrypted network transport and database access controls designed to limit data to authorised match participants. No system is completely secure.

We may update this policy as ZoneHunt changes and will revise the effective date or provide an in-app notice for material changes.
